In a hard hitting statement, the DMK chief said he wondered as to what kind of advice the governor got from the leader who was so ill that access to her was limited and no leader was allowed to meet her.

“It is a wonder that Tamil Nadu governor Vidyasagar Rao allocated portfolios handled by chief minister J Jayalalithaa to finance minister O Panneerselvam based on her advice,” said Karunanidhi.

Senior leaders like AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi, BJP president Amit Shah, Union ministers Arun Jaitley, M Venkaiah Naidu, Nirmala Sitaraman and Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan were not allowed to meet Jayalalithaa in Apollo Hospital.

All they could do was to meet doctors and some officials and a few ministers who were present there. Given this situation, a statement from Raj Bhavan had said reallocation of the portfolios was done based on the advice of Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi said.

“It is a wonder ,” said Karunanidhi adding it was also doubtful if the governor had analysed various provisions of the Constitution in such a short span of time.
