PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday slammed former Supreme Court judge Markanday Katju for “trying to become ‘Maai-Baap’ (guardian)” of the state, after his comments of offering Kashmir to Pakistan on condition that it should also take Bihar.

“Ghar baithe ‘maai-baap’ ban rahe hai Bihar kaa... (Trying to become guardian of Bihar while sitting at home),” Kumar said in Patna after launching two of his seven resolves of providing drinking water and toilet to every household.

Katju posted a sarcastic post on social media on Sunday, suggesting that Pakistan could get Kashmir if it agrees to take Bihar also as part of a “package deal”.

Addressing Pakistanis, the septuagenarian wrote on Facebook, “You have to take the whole package, or none at all. Either you take both Kashmir and Bihar, or nothing.”

“I have just received authoritative information from the Govt. of Pakistan. They have point blank refused the offer of taking Kashmir along with Bihar, and they have profusely apologised for ever asking for Kashmir at all and have promised never to ask for it again. Evidently the idea of getting Bihar too has horrified them out of their wits,” he wrote.
