NEW DELHI: The RSS kept up the pressure on the government to take “firm and conclusive” action against the terrorists responsible for the Uri attack, but its hardline affiliate, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), raised the pitch by asking Indian forces to take control of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Following Sunday’s attack, RSS general secretary Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi in a statement called for imposing costs on “terrorist, their masters and their supporters”. He was referring to Pakistan, accused of masterminding the attack and support groups of terrorists within India.
Mentor of the BJP, the RSS called for supporting the government’s decision, whatever it may be. Sangh spokesperson Manmohan Vaidya told HT, the government’s response to the Uri attacks is “not a an issue for public debate”.
