GUWAHATI: Achyut Lahkar, who founded ‘bhramyoman’ or mobile theatre and elevated it to an entertainment industry in Assam, passed away in western Assam’s Pathshala town on Sunday. He was 85 and was unwell for the past three years. “He gave rural Assam a form of entertainment that has survived the age of TV and internet,” chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said. Lahkhar was cremated with state honours.
