KOLKATA: Twenty years after they failed to convince the party’s central leadership to let Jyoti Basu become the Prime Minister of a Congress-supported United Front government, liberal CPI(M) leaders from Bengal on Sunday fought hard to convince the central leadership to let them continue with a state-level alliance with Congress. “Bengal leaders have placed their argument. The two-day meet of the Bengal state committee came to an end on Sunday.
