AKTU officials are verifying documents of students in Lucknow.

On February 27, the university administration had suspended 19,834 students over irregularities in their admission related documents.

A total of 846 institutions is affiliated with AKTU across the state, with more than 150 of these colleges in Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

For the 2016-17 academic session, a total of 82,141 students had taken admission across the state. “After cross-checking the documents of the newly admitted students, we found that as many as 20,000 students had submitted incomplete forms. The migration certificate and class 12 mark sheets of many were missing. We decided to put their admission in the respective institutes on hold,” Ashish Mishra, spokesperson, AKTU, said.

The university has provided students with another chance to submit the documents through their college representatives. The representatives have been called to the main campus in Lucknow where the university authorities will re-examine the documents.

“We have already started the re-examination process of the documents. We had invited representatives of 150 colleges on Monday and Tuesday,” Mishra said.

“Colleges with code 001 to 150 have been invited on February 27 and 28, colleges from 151 to 300 on March 1 and 2, colleges from 301 to 450 on March 3 and 4, colleges from 451 to 675 on March 5 and 6, and colleges from 675 to 846 on March 7 and 8,” Mishra said.

However, the university officials said that there will no leniency will be shown to students post the re-examination process. “Admission of students whose documents are missing post the re-examination process will be cancelled,” Mishra said.

Officials said that there are irregularities in documents submitted by a number of SC/ST category students, who are given scholarship under Samaj Kalyan department.

“The fees for SC/ST students come from Samaj Kalyan department and the amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of students. We have also found many caste certificates and mark sheets of such students to be missing or fake. Therefore, we have to be extremely cautious to ensure that the scholarship funds are not misused,” Mishra said.
