The demand for rollback in school fees has been gaining momentum over the last few weeks. Earlier, parents of students studying in Delhi Public School, sectors 132 and 30, had protested on July 3 and 8 respectively.

Despite heavy rain on Saturday, parents gathered with posters and banners outside the school premises. The parents demanded a meeting with the school management but were refused permission to meet the school principal.

The parents later decided to submit a memorandum to the city magistrate.

“We tried our best to meet the principal but the school ignored our plea. We are sorry to say that private schools are behaving arbitrarily with regard to fees hike. As we (parents) pay fees for our kids, why should the schools not allow us to have our say in the fee-hike decision? Why not set up a committee of parents, schools and administration to resolve the issue permanently? We have been demanding a committee and rollback of fees for the present financial year only,” Pooja Kohli, a parent, said.

The management of Apeejay School was not available for comment.

Parents across the district have decided to hold a collective demonstration on July 20 at the camp office of the district magistrate in Sector 27.
