The man told HT his wife – a 30-year-old woman – struck his head with a grinding stone on Thursday morning that made him dizzy and he collapsed.

“I was in a towel after taking a bath. She inflicted three blows on my private parts one after the other. I felt that there was someone else in the room and was holding me from back as she landed the blows,” the man said.

The woman, who was arrested on Thursday, said her husband refused to have sex with her for 10 years and humiliated her for being childless. She also alleged physical and mental torture.

The couple hails from Bulandshahr and has been living in Ghaziabad for the past eight years.

“Then, she opened the room and walked out after latching the door from outside. I was bleeding profusely and was in a semi-conscious state. I somehow walked up to the balcony and cried for help. I think when my neighbours rushed for help, the unidentified man may have escaped,” he told HT.

The man is now recuperating at a private hospital in Noida after doctors successfully operated on him.

He said he tried his best to support her family after her father died in an accident around three years ago.

“After what she has done to me, there is no point in continuing to live with her. Who knows what she will do to me next? She might even kill me some day. I will lodge a case against her, as her family has been supporting her after the incident. Maybe, she did all this as she doesn’t want to stay with me has suspicions of me having an extra marital affair. But her suspicions are unfounded as I am not in any relationship. Perhaps, she’s in an affair and this was a ploy to force me to leave her,” he added.

The woman had said her husband beat her up and hurled abuses for being childless.

“We had a fight over the same issue on Wednesday night. I have no regrets as I suffered a lot of humiliation and mental torture,” she had said.

“I still tolerated him. I don’t know the reason why he hates me. Often, he used to ask me to leave. We got married in June 2006. He used to assault me and often abused me and my sisters,” she said in her statement.

Her husband dismissed the claims.

“He avoids going to the doctor. The doctor tried calling him several times but he refused to visit. He said he won’t have children with me,” the woman had said.
