Class 12 results: Ghaziabad students put up a good show, CBSE list acts as a dampener

The list had calculated students’ aggregate percentage on the basis of five main subjects and had excluded marks of the one additional subject that students choose

A number of students in Ghaziabad performed well in the CBSE Class 12 board exams, the results for which were declared on Sunday. Many city students emerged among toppers in the region. However, a list circulated on social media about regional toppers had some alleged discrepancies and acted as a dampener.

Amogha GS from Amity International School, Vasundhara, Sector 6, scored 98.8%, securing a total of 494 marks in all her subjects. Aditi Singh and Ashwin Goel from the same school secured 492 and 488 marks, respectively. Anubhav Agarwal from Delhi Public School Ghaziabad (Meerut Road) secured 496 in five subjects with a percentage of 99.2 and Vaishanavi Kaushik from Nehru World School secured 99%.

At Amity International School, Sector 1, Vasundhara, Maanvi Kashyap emerged as the school topper with 96% marks. In DPS Indirapuram, Sejal Garg secured 98.4% in humanities while Ananya Negi secured 96.8% and Arushi Bansal secured 96.4%. The school’s average aggregate stood at 81.77% with 34 students securing 100% marks in a minimum of one subject.

“A student is free to calculate marks based on any five subjects, mandatorily including English. Students can calculate on the basis of any of the best five subjects. This can also include marks of the additional subject if he/she secures high marks in it. The list circulated has issues and is not properly calculated. We have already spoken to the CBSE officials and will forward a representation about the list,” said Jyoti Gupta, principal DPSG (Meerut Road) and Ghaziabad coordinator, CBSE.

The school secured a 100% result with 96 students securing 100 in some subjects. The average aggregate of the school stood at 89.65% and no students failed the exams.

The students said they are not affected by the list circulated and wish to focus only on their future.

“The list has some discrepancy and my school has written to the CBSE to get it sorted. For my short term plans, I wish to join any of the prestigious colleges in Delhi University and later opt for foreign services. In the long term, I wish to join politics as there is dearth of good politicians these days,” said Anubhav Agarwal from DPSG (Meerut Road).
