Ghaziabad: CBI files two more chargesheets against seven in Yadav Singh case

A fresh chargesheet has been filed against Yadav Singh, four suspended Noida officials, a senior officials of a private firm and the firm itself

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed a fresh chargesheet, naming six persons, and a supplementary chargesheet against one person at the court of Special Judge, CBI, in Ghaziabad. The chargesheets were filed in connection with the Yadav Singh disproportionate assets case.

The fresh chargesheet was filed against six persons, including Yadav Singh, four suspended junior officers of the Noida authority, a senior official of a private company and the company itself.

The chargesheet was filed under sections of cheating, criminal conspiracy, forgery of the IPC and also under the provisions of the Pevention of Corruption Act.

The fresh chargesheet was filed on the allegations relating to underground cable laying works worth nearly Rs20,778 lakh and Rs1,732 lakh.

“During investigation, it was revealed that work was allegedly decided, the estimates inflated, the bill of quantity was changed and there was a cartel formed among contractors to show the private company as the lowest bidder. The work started in April 2011 whereas the tender was opened in August-September 2011,” a CBI spokesperson said.

“A loss of Rs2,22,63,897 and Rs6,62,50,802 was caused to the government exchequer in both works,” the spokesperson said.

In the other supplementary chargesheet, the CBI charged the wife of an accused who is a suspended project engineer.

“It was found that the wife of project engineer was shown an employee of a private construction company in Noida. She was also allegedly provided an amount of Rs11 lakh as unsecured loan and she was also made a director in one of the sister concerns of the private company,” the spokesperson said.
