Locals agitated after burning animal found in Ghaziabad

Tension prevailed in Abupur village under Niwari police station area of Ghaziabad on late Wednesday night after locals found the body of an animal burning at a cremation ground which is located on the outskirts of the village.

“The carcass of the animal was sent for testing and it was found to be of a dog. The miscreants had dumped the body and set it afire. They are being traced. The police will remain deployed till further orders,” a police spokesperson said. (HT photo)

After the information spread and residents saw flames, hundreds of locals arrived at the cremation ground and alleged that the burning animal was a cow.

Considering the sensitivity of the situation, Ghaziabad administration and police deployed one platoon of Provincial Armed Constabulary and also sent a number of inspectors from Loni, Tronica City, Modi Nagar, Murad Nagar, Link road, Sahibabad and Kotwali police stations to avoid any untoward incident.

Official sources said the matter was taken up on priority as Wednesday also marked the day of ‘Ram Barat’ at a number of Ramlilas across the city.
