“The Noida authority has built this building for women of scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST). However, if ST and SC candidates do not occupy all rooms, women belonging to general category will also be accommodated,” AK Goyal, chief project engineer (CPE) of the Noida authority, said.

UP Mahila Kalyan Nigam, which is aimed at empowering women, will run the facility at cheap rates and ensure safety of women.

“Since the building is ready, we have formed a four-member committee to decide the charges for a room and also management norms, before this facility is opened,” Dr LK Singh, general manager of Mahila Kalyan Nigam, said.

The committee consists of two members from Noida authority and two from Mahila Kalyan Nigam.

“We hope we will complete work on these facilities in the next two and a half months. After completion of work, we will begin inviting applications from women candidates. The complex is an air-conditioned facility except for the rooms where the women will stay,” Goyal said.

Earlier, this facility was supposed to be ready on October 14, 2011. Mayawati, the previous chief minister of UP, was scheduled to inaugurate the facility in 2011. However, she could not do so because work on the project remained incomplete till end of 2011. Later, it was delayed due to formation of a new government in March 2012. Akhilesh Yadav, the current chief minister of UP, inaugurated this `46 crore project on April 13, 2015.

The Noida authority on June 14 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UP Mahila Kalyan Nigam to run this facility.
