After two days of clear weather, dense fog returned to the twin city on Friday morning. The fog started descending during wee hours and till morning, the visibility was reduced to 50-100 meters leading to a slow moving traffic at the Yamuna Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) Flyway.
Many commuters faced problem in driving and after a recent pile-up, which had claimed a life at Yamuna Expressway, many commuters preferred to halt their journey till 9 am when the fog started dispersing.
“The fog was not that dense like it was last week but the fear of being part of a pile-up forced us to halt at the restaurant at Expressway. We started our journey to Agra after 9 am when the fog was dispersed and visibility was good,” said Anil Pratap Singh, a resident of Agra who often visits the twin city.
The weather department said fog will remain in the twin city in coming week and the temperature will also decrease.
“The minimum temperature is likely to go down further to 7 degree Celsius and the maximum is likely to hover around 22 degree Celsius. Skies will be cloudy for next three four days and heavy fog is expected during morning hours,” said an Indian meteorological department official.
According to the weather department, chill in the weather will return from Sunday morning as the minimum temperature is likely to decrease to 9 degree Celsius. Winds of 11 kmph will make the weather colder. The chilly mornings will continue for the entire week and the minimum temperature is likely to go down to 7 degree Celsius on Thursday with a partly cloudy sky. The maximum temperature is likely to remain above 20 degree Celsius throughout the week, the MeT department official said.
