Noida Police issues advisory for cabbies, commuters

The drivers and cab operators have been instructed to install a global positioning system (GPS) device in their cars in a hidden location so that it is not easily visible to others. Cab drivers have also been directed not to park their vehicles at secluded places where robbers can easily attack them.

To check the rising incidents of vehicle lifting and robbery of cab drivers in Noida and Greater Noida, the district police has issued an advisory for commuters as well as drivers of private vehicles and cabs.

The police have also directed cab drivers to behave nicely with passengers. The police said that in case they get suspicious of a passenger, they should immediately pass on the message to the police control room.

The guidelines also mention that the operators should advise their drivers to park their vehicles only at authorised or designated parking lots. There are chances that vehicle lifters can easily access locations that have no security, the police said.

Meanwhile, commuters have been also advised to check the identity card of drivers before getting into a cab. The police said that passengers should always share their information with their family members, relatives or friends for their safety.

The police also stated that drivers should not give a lift to anyone in the late night hours and should wait for their bookings in areas where there is a police presence.

Drivers were also warned against jumping traffic signals and flouting road safety rules. They were also advised to ask passengers to wear their seat belt and inform the police if a passenger causes inconvenience.
