On May 26, the authority decided to rope in a private agency to monitor the progress of delayed housing projects and ensure that builders stick to their new delivery schedule.

“At present, 12 private agencies have expressed interest in monitoring the realty projects. Private agencies with expertise in construction can apply for this till June 26. After that, we will process applications and select an agency that will do the monitoring properly and submit weekly reports,” said Prasad.

“We do not have skilled manpower in the planning department to monitor the under-construction housing projects. Thus, we have decided to hire a private agency that will assist us in this work. If the agency informs us that a particular builder is not carrying out construction properly, we will act on it. If the agency certifies that a builder is doing his job properly as per the schedule, we will not act against him,” said Prasad.

“The private agency will keep monitoring whether or not a builder is carrying out construction as per the schedule submitted by him,” said Prasad.
