Noida: Rs15 cr approved to check waterlogging in Sector 63

The Noida authority has earmarked the amount to elevate internal roads in blocks C and D of Sector 63

The Noida authority has earmarked Rs15 crore to elevate all major internal roads in block C and D in Sector 63 to address waterlogging issues in the area.

Hoping that the elevation of roads in these two blocks will rid the area of severe waterlogging, officials said the authority was forced to address the issue as waterlogging leads to massive traffic jams every year.

Last year, due to waterlogging, Road No.6 that connects central Noida with national highway (NH) 24 towards Ghaziabad had witnessed traffic jam for about four hours. The internal roads in blocks C and D were submerged and vehicles remained stuck for many hours.

“We hope that elevation of all major roads in the two blocks will help us resolve the waterlogging problem. Water logging takes place as the level of the roads in these two blocks is much too low as compared to the buildings along the roads,” said PK Garg, project engineer of the Noida authority.

“As the Noida authority CEO has given his in-principle approval for this plan, we will make estimates of the project and get necessary approvals in the next four months to make way for tenders,” said a Noida authority official.
