Noida’s first elevated road will be partially opened to public by July-end, the Noida authority said on Saturday after senior officials inspected the work at the site.

The authority has decided to open the 2.8 km stretch of the under-construction 4.8 km elevated road. Work on the road had started on October 14, 2014.
“We decided to open the 2.8 km stretch to motorists before the scheduled deadline to offer them relief from traffic congestion. This stretch will offer motorists a safe and smooth ride from July,” said Saumya Srivastava, deputy chief executive officer (DCEO) of the Noida authority.
“We examined the quality of the work and whether all safety norms were being followed at the sites. After inspection and discussions held with other officials, we decided to partially open the elevated road to motorists,” said Srivastava.
The stretch to be opened falls between Sector 58/61 and Sector 24/33.
“The 2.8 km elevated stretch will help motorists in skipping four traffic signals. The partial opening will cut travel time by 20 minutes during peak hours,” said another Noida authority official.
The deadline for the project is scheduled for October 2017. However, work on the project is three months ahead of the schedule, a senior official said. The authority is constructing the road above Noida’s one of the main routes - Master Plan-II. The elevated road begins from Vishbharti School in Sector 28 and ends at Flex industries in Sector 58.

Srivastava, along with engineers of the authority, also inspected the road and two other projects. The team inspected the work at a new bridge being constructed across Yamuna near Kalindi Kunj barrage. Work at a cricket ground being built inside Noida Stadium in Sector 21A was also inspected.
