Noida’s first elevated road to be ready by June-end

In October 2016, the Noida authority has opened 2.8km stretch of the under-construction 4.8km elevated road.

The city’s first elevated road will be fully opened to the public by June-end, the Noida authority said on Monday.

The elevated road will ease traffic issues around many residential areas, including sectors 33, 23, 25, 27, 26, 28, 29 and 31, among others. Work on the road had started on October 14, 2014.

“We have completed 87% of the work on the 4.8km road. Half of the road is already being used by commuters. The remaining work will be completed by June-end and the whole elevated road will be thrown open to commuters,” said SC Mishra, senior project engineer, Noida authority.

Due to the construction activity, residents of colonies situated along the elevated road have also been complaining of pollution caused by construction dust.

“We now need to build segments above the pillars. Once segments are ready, we will build the bitumen road. Also, we will rebuild the road under the elevated road that was damaged due to the construction work. These three works will be completed by June,” said Deepak Agarwal, chief executive officer, Noida authority.

The deadline for the project is October 2017. However, work on the project is three months ahead of schedule, a senior official said.
