At present, there is only one parking pit available to keep impounded vehicles - at Botanic Garden.

“I have written to the Noida authority and the district administration to allocate land for this purpose. The enforcement teams spread across the city find it difficult to impound vehicles on a daily basis. There is only one pit, at Botanic Garden, where we can store 300 vehicles at most,” Sanjay Singh, superintendent of police (traffic) Gautam Budh Nagar, said.

“We require at least two big pits in the city. We have appealed to the Noida authority and district administration many times,” Singh said.

The traffic police had identified two locations -- at Sector 71 and 62 -- for parking pits and sent their requests to Noida authority and the district administration.

The traffic police has also been raising the issue at district level meetings. The traffic police wrote to the Noida authority to provide adequate space where it can develop a parking site a fortnight ago.

District magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar, NP Singh, said he has asked the city traffic police and transport department to use the sites in Sector 62 and Sector 71 for the purpose.

“We inspected the locations with the police and authority officials in December and asked the traffic police to start using the sites. They should deploy security, barricade the sites and start using them to store vehicles,” the DM said.
