The District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) said owners of coaching centres should get their centres registered under the Uttar Pradesh Regulations of Coaching Act, 2002, or else an FIR could be lodged against them.

“Although hundreds of coaching centres are being run in the city, only 16 centres have been registered under the act. Initially, I issued appeals and warnings to all coaching centres, but from next month I will start conducting raids and lodge FIRs against unregistered coaching centres,” said Munesh Kumar, DIOS, Gautam Budh Nagar.
Any person imparting coaching, or running, managing or maintaining any coaching centre has to get registration under the act. The certificate of registration issued shall be valid unless cancelled or suspended under this act. The act also adds that no person or institution shall be registered under the act unless they give a written undertaking not to engage or employ any teacher or employee of an institution.
“If a person fails to produce records before the competent officer as desired by him he may be penalised with a fine up to Rs 10,000,” the DIOS said.
