Robbers decamp with ₹7L worth jewellery from Ghaziabad store

Store owner Rajiv Jain said he shut his shop on Saturday night and opened it only on Monday morning when he found a hole in the wall, and gold and silver jewellery missing.

“I suspect that the incident took place on Sunday night. Someone would have noticed if it had taken place on Saturday night. I immediately informed police. Some 10-11 grams of gold items, 13.5 kg silver items and other valuables were taken away by the burglars,” Jain said.

He said he has registered a complaint at Kavi Nagar police station.

“On May 3, three men held me at gunpoint and escaped with cash and valuables worth ₹5.25 lakh. The case is yet to be solved. Now, I have suffered another loss. The thieves broke the wall, about 1.5-foot thick, and entered the shop. They escaped through the same opening,” he said.

“The loss of the jeweller is estimated around ₹6 to ₹7 lakh. We have registered an FIR for theft and trespassing and the investigation is on. The robbery case is yet to be worked out. Efforts are on to trace the culprits,” Manish Mishra, circle officer (city), said.
