The residents were told this in a letter sent on Wednesday by RP Singh, the project engineer (electrical and maintenance-II), Noida authority.

The letter also said that a joint inspection with the Noida traffic cell has been carried out for the purpose.

He said a proper design of signal as per the site requirement has been discussed and an estimate is being prepared. The letter said the entire process of installing the traffic signals will take two months.

As many as 10,000 people living in the eight housing societies of Sector 137 such as Exotica Fresco, Paramount Flooraville, Gulshan Vivante, Ajnara Daffodil, Paras Tierea and Purvanchal Royal Park, among others, use this intersection to take the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.

The intersection is situated on the service road leading to Greater Noida and runs parallel to expressway.

Vehicles coming from Greater Noida towards Delhi and vice versa speed on the road, because of which it becomes difficult for commuters to exit the road that comes from Sector 136 and 137.

In the absence of traffic lights, four major accidents have taken place in the past three months there, causing grievous injuries to victims.

Residents said the problem has aggravated further as the 300-metre stretch of the sector road from Panchsheel Balak Inter College to the intersection has been blocked for more than a year due to construction work.

He said vehicles coming from Delhi have to take a diversion near the college and exit on the intersection again to reach the lane. It adds to the confusion a lot and only traffic lights can control the movement of vehicles.

Noida MLA Pankaj Singh and the traffic police also took cognizance of the matter on their Twitter handles.

Pankaj tweeted, “Our office has spoken to the concerned officer about the absence of traffic signal in Sec-137 (sic).”

Noida traffic police tweeted: “Thanks noted please.”
