During the remand, the accused identified the AK-47 rifle and a pistol used in the attack, and also led to the recovery of a can of spray used to refurbish the assault rifle, the police said.

Manish, the prime accused, and his aide Yogendra Thakur alias Babbal, were subjected to police remand and taken to Manish’s house at Mehrauli.

“We recovered a can of metallic paint which he used to spray on the AK-47 to remove the rust. He also led us to a car that was used for following Teotia on August 10, a day before the attack. This car was also used in ferrying his family members to safe locations soon following the attack on August 11,” Rakesh Kumar Pandey, superintendent of police (rural), said.

Teotia was attacked at Rawli Road in Murad Nagar on August 11. Nearly 52 rounds of ammunition were fired by the accused.

Manish believed Teotia was behind his father’s murder in 1999. Babbal is a nephew of the late Pritam Singh who was part of the special task force team to gun down hitman Prakash Shukla in 1998.

The police arrested eight accused so far, while a total of 14 names figured in planning and attack.
