This time the offender has been caught at an international meet. Jiten, who won the free style gold medal in 69kg category at the Asian Championships for Cadets that was held in Taichung, Chinese Taipei, has tested positive.

Jiten’s sample taken during the competition that was held from July 7-10 has shown traces of diuretic and furosemide. He has been provisionally suspended from competition, pending further hearings.

Jiten, it is learnt, has agreed to this violation under WADA’s rule of 7.9.5 which states: “In all the cases where an athlete or other persons has been notified of an anti-doping rule violation but a provisional suspension has not been imposed on him or her, the athlete or other person shall be offered the opportunity to accept a provisional suspension voluntarily pending the resolution of the matter.”

He hasn’t asked to test his ‘B’ sample yet. Jiten’s medal has not been returned yet. Jiten’s positive test was brought to the notice of United World Wrestling (UWW), the world governing body, on August 5.

Earlier, both Narsingh and Sandip Tulsi Yadav, who won bronze medal in Greco Roman in 2013 World Championships tested positive for banned anabolic steroid.
