India win four gold in Asian GP

National record holder Renjith Maheswary won the men’s triple jump event as India bagged 12 medals, including four gold, in the third and final leg of the Asian Grand Prix Athletics here on Monday.

National record holder Renjith Maheswary won the men’s triple jump event as India bagged 12 medals, including four gold, in the third and final leg of the Asian Grand Prix Athletics here on Monday.

Maheswary’s jump of 16.46m was though below his second leg gold-winning effort of 16.61m at Kanchanapuri. He had won a bronze in the first leg in Bangkok.

Arpinder Singh won the bronze with an effort of 15.85m. Arpinder had also won bronze in the first leg. In total, India won four gold, five silver and three bronze.

The other three gold came from Rohit Kumar in the men’s javelin throw and men’s and women’s 4x400m relay races. Rohit hurled the spear to a distance of 69.12m.
