Maintaining the sole lead with seven points, the Kazakh GM Petr Kostenko defeated Parimarjan Negi in the seventh round at the Parsvnath Open chess tournament, HT reports.

Maintaining the sole lead with seven points, the Kazakh GM Petr Kostenko defeated Parimarjan Negi in the seventh round at the Parsvnath Open chess tournament on Friday. Continuing his dream run, Kostenko displayed a fine tactical game to overcome Negi in 53 moves. Top seed Surya Shekhar Ganguly defeated Deep Sengupta and Abhijit Kunte got better of IM Shyam Sundar. Praveen Thipsay lost to Vishnu Prasanna while Shashikant Kutwal stunned GM Safin Shukhrat.
