“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body” is what we believe at SAIL. By sponsoring the SAIL Open Golf Championship for the third time, the public sector giant has furthered its corporate philosophy of promoting sport in India.
Out of the top-10 at the halfway stage of the SAIL Open 2010, we have nine Indians and the young brigade of Gaganjeet Bhullar, Himmat Rai and Shiv Kapur are in that group. A few others like Manav Jaini, Baaz Mann and Rahil Gangjee are also within striking distance at 3 and 4 under par.
Anyone who can keep his nerve for the last two days will surely be the winner. At the Delhi Golf Club, we have two very crucial stretches, one in the front nine and the other in the back nine. The fourth through the sixth and the 14th through the 16th are crucial in any tournament played at the DGC. I have seen many a tournament decided on the outcome of these holes.
The DGC has once again proved to be a truly world class venue. The fairways and the greens played superbly once again. All the foreign professionals from 22 countries, participating this week, praised the unique course set-up with its intimidating bushes, dancing peacocks and historical monuments. A perfect environment for an international golf tournament in India has been provided to the guests from abroad.

{{/usCountry}}The SAIL Open 2010 has been played in calm golfing conditions for the first two days. The wind has not really picked up, providing low-scoring opportunities for professionals. The final two days are sure to provide a lot of drama to the galleries, who always come out in hordes whenever an international event is played at the DGC.
My bet is once again on an Indian winning the SAIL Open and for the first time the trophy shall stay home.
