Even as the country's top two shooters - Gagan Narang and Vijay Kumar - bask in London Olympic glory, Ukrainian pistol expert, Anatoli Piddubnyi, responsible for fine-tuning the skills of top marksmen, is waiting for his dues to be cleared.
In February, Piddubnyi had signed a contract with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for a monthly remuneration of $4,500, though he had been overseeing training of marksmen in the national camp since December 2011.
"It's strange that my dues for five months are still pending. I have just got four months' salary," said Piddubnuyi on the sidelines of the felicitation function for Olympic medallists at the National Stadium.
The coach has had to take a loan of Rs. 1 lakh from his former employers 'Gun for Glory' whom he left in August last.
Confusion
The National Rifle Association of India advisor, Baljeet Singh Sethi, said there is some confusion over Piddubnuyi's salary, "but the issue will be resolved soon".
Regarding his contract that expires on August 31, Piddubnuyi said he wouldn't mind continuing, but wants to chalk out his own training plan.
"If the federation gives me the liberty to chalk out my own training programme, I shall stay back. Otherwise, I will give it a second thought," he said.
