If a functionary of the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) is to be believed, the Asian Athletics Championships is likely to be held in Ranchi.
The continental competition was scheduled to be held in Chennai from July 3, but the Tamil Nadu government had refused to support the event on the ground that Sri Lankan athletes would not be allowed to enter the state.
The dates of the competition remain the same.
Meanwhile, the third and final leg of the Indian Grand Prix, scheduled to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on April 13, has been postponed, as the Delhi leg of the IGP was clashing with the dates of the AFI annual general body meeting.
The AFI, during its AGM on April 13 and 14, is supposed to elect its president, secretary and treasurer as the sports ministry had refused to recognise the polls held in March last year.
Due to a cramped schedule, the third leg is likely to be shifted to June or July. The AFI has also shifted the April 23-26 Federation Cup from Delhi to Patiala. The dates stay unchanged. Earlier, the AFI had shifted the first and second legs of the IGP to Patiala.

The snakes were seen on the field after Mohun Bagan's 3-2 win and fortunately the snakes were put aside by the local authorities before it could cause a panic. "We had no idea about it yesterday. But I saw it the news. It sounds scary though. Thank God, we were safe," Mohun Bagan mid-fielder Denson Devadas said.
I-League CEO Sunando Dhar said: "We have instructed the authorities to take proper safety measures."
