Samoa's Opeloge makes family affair with 105kg gold

Samoa's Niusila Opeloge gave his family and country their second Commonwealth Games gold medal of the day when he clinched the 105kg heavyweight weightlifting gold on Sunday.

The 30-year-old had struggled throughout the snatch section of the final, needing three lifts to register 147kg and survive into the clean and jerk.

He then bided his time, came in last and immediately lifted 191kg for a winning total of 338kg, four kilos better than Russian-born New Zealander Stanislav Chalaev.

Nigeria's Curtis Onaghinor claimed bronze with 332kg.
