Alleged gangrape accused arrested

The main accused was arrested from Shimla, another from Jalandhar and third one from Chapra in Bihar yesterday, police sources said.

The main accused was produced in a local court in Shimla which allowed his transit remand for being taken to Patna.

A Patna police was in town to take him back to Bihar, sources said.

Two others are still missing, sources said.

The girl was allegedly gangraped by the five boys while she was on her way to attend coaching classes on June 14 according to the FIR lodged about the incident by the Bihar Women's Commission.

Commission member Chandramukhi Devi said the alleged incident took place at Rajvanshi Nagar here on June 14 and came to light July 24 in a news report.

After the FIR was lodged, the main accused fled Patna. He surrendered before the Shimla police late on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister's secretariat directed the Patna police and the state women's commission to send the entire case details to it, sources added.
