Bihar mulls change in exam pattern for transparency: Nitish

To introduce greater transparency in the examination system, Bihar mulls on introducing online evaluation.

Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said the government was considering a change in the examination and evaluation pattern to introduce greater transparency in the system to check chances of manual interference.

Kumar, who was speaking at the Bihar entrepreneurship summit at the Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, said the government had worked hard in bringing about a change in the education sector. But, at times, those entrusted with the responsibility, mess up the system, leading to irregularities like toppers scam, question paper leak, etc., he said.

“You hardly know what a person is going to do in future. Once, an irregularity in examination and evaluation process occurs, the entire energy is focussed on inquiry and getting to the bottom of things,” he said.

“To introduce greater transparency in the system, we are mulling on online evaluation by migrating information like questions asked, name of the evaluator, answers, model answers, etc. to the online system,” he added.

Chief secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, while endorsing the need for transparency, said: “Rejection of first idea should not be taken as the end of the road. With fire in your belly, a dream and a belief, you can still improve your idea or hit upon something big.”
