Bihar government has declared March 22 a public holiday to enable everyone celebrate Bihar Diwas.

The government has planned a three-day celebration, the main function of which will be held at Gandhi Maidan. Every government department has been charged with making presentations on the progress of their area totaling into showcasing the state’s overall progress.
Linking the progress to Bihari pride, the main functions will have thematic cultural programmes and regional events to showcase the state’s progress.
There will be a Bihar gallery, photo and painting exhibition, display of books on Bihar, agriculture fair, highlights on tourist places as well as show on State delicacies. Some functions have also been planned at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and other metros to inform Biharis living there of the progress the state has made.
The Human Resource Development Department has made elaborate arrangements for Bihar Diwas, with functions scheduled for all the colleges and universities, 22,000 secondary schools and 2,000 higher secondary schools and symposia at Gandhi Sangrahalay, Khuda Baksh Library, Kashi Prasad Jaiswal Research Institute, AN Sinha Institute of Social Sciences, etc.
The HRD plans to honour the best school of the state. The Rural Development Department has also decided to select and award the best panchayat in the state.

{{/usCountry}}Similarly, the Health Department will select the best hospital and award it. The Agriculture Department will hold ‘Agriculture Fair’ at the district level.
“A number of events have been planned on the occasion to display the positives happening in the State,” said Principal Secretary, HRD, Anjani Kumar Singh.
There will be functions organised in all the districts. A souvenir depicting State’s journey, its achievements and other facets will be brought out on the occasion.
A coffee table book ‘Monuments of Bihar’ will also be released on the occasion. On March 21, the Department of Industries and the Department of Tourism will organise a function depicting Bihari cuisine and handicrafts at the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
