In a major operation against the Naxals, the Bihar police with the help of the Central Reserve Police Force (CEPF) destroyed a full-fledged training camp of the Maoists in the deep forests of Pesraha under Dharahara police station in Munger district.
The police also recovered police uniform, detonators, flash Impoverished Explosive Devices, live cartridges, knives, Naxal literature, clipping of newspapers, generator sets, perfumes and other cosmetic goods used by woman activists from the site.
Acting on a tip off, a joint police team of the Special Task Force, CRPF and the district police led by Munger Superintendent of Police Sunil Naik launched an intensive operation in the deep forests located on the borders of Jamui, Banka and Lakhisarai districts.
The police officials were taken aback to see a full-fledged training camp running in the forest near Bhimbandh where a former SP K C Surendra Babu was killed in a landmine explosion in 2005. The Maoists had set up barracks and there was a playground to impart training to recruits.
“As per my information, over 100 activists were being imparted training at the centre,” said Munger SP Naik on telephone. He said that the area is inaccessible for the police. “It was perhaps for the first time that such a major operation has been launched against Naxals in the area,” he said.

{{/usCountry}}Additional Director General (headquarters) Neelmani said that though the police were tipped off about presence of over 100 ultras, the latter managed to escape taking advantage of the topography of the area. “The operation will continue,” he said.
The recovery of saree and other cosmetics goods indicated that a large number of woman activists were also being imparted training at the camp. The Naxals had laid landmines on the way leading to the forest, the police defused them, Neelmani said.
