Patna: Sadhu in news again as builder alleges extortion demand

Former Gopalganj MP Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav and estranged brother-in-law of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, landed in fresh controversy with Patna police registering a case against him for allegedly demanding extortion money from a builder on Wednesday.

The manager of builder Anil Singh, who lodged the complaint with the Kotwali PS here, claimed that Yadav had demanded Rs 50 lakh as extortion money. The complaint was lodged by the builder’s manager as Singh, accused in many criminal cases, has been absconding.

The manager claimed that Yadav had called up Singh at around 7pm and threatened him with dire consequences if he failed to pay Rs 50 lakh.

Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj told HT that police had started investigating the matter.

Yadav, a resident of Mirganj village in Gopalganj district, has been in news for wrong reasons on earlier occasions also.

Lalu Prasad and his wife, former chief minister Rabri Devi, had long back severed all relations with Yadav.

Supporters of Yadav, who is currently in Delhi, said the former MP had called up the builder to enquire about a retired Gopalganj officer’s complaint that he had paid the builder lakhs of rupees for a flat but he had not yet been given the possession of the property.

Meanwhile, a police official, not willing to be identified, claimed that Yadav had invested his “ill gotten” money in real estate through Singh.
