Patna High Court on Friday directed Bihar government to reply by June 23 on controversial RJD Lok Sabha member Mohammed Shahabuddin's criminal writ charging the state government with not sending him to All India Institute of Medical Scieces (AIIMS) in New Delhi for check-up.

A division bench comprising justice Shiva Kiriti Singh and justice JN Singh directed the state government to reply by June 23 on Shahabuddin's petition seeking to go to New Delhi for check-up in AIIMS.
Appearing on behalf of Shahabuddin, who is facing life term in connection with abduction-cum-suspected killing of a CPI-ML activists, senior advocate YV Giri said Shahabuddin underwent a surgery on spinal cord at AIIMS in 2006 and he was asked by the doctors to come for check-up again after three months.
"Despite the doctors' sugegstion, the state government is not making arrangement to take him to the hospital for check-up while his condition is not good," Giri argued.
Shahabuddin, who is lodged in judicial custody at Siwan Jail, has already been convicted in four criminal cases.
