A 1989 batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, K V Singhdeo on Saturday took over the charge as inspector general (IG) of central industrial security forces (CISF) eastern sector headquarters at Patna.

Before joining as IG, Singhdeo was posted as DIG, eastern zone, Patna. He has been decorated with presidents police medal in 2007. The jurisdiction of eastern sector encompasses Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha and CISF is providing security coverage to 32 units undertakings including coal, steel, mines, thermal power, and Heavy Engineering Corporation and oil refineries. There is one reserve battalion of the force in Ranchi.
The IG said, it would be his endeavour to fullfil the CISF mandate to provide foolproof security and protection to all undertakings in the eastern sector.
