Poor cancer patients will now be able to receive treatment of up to Rs. 30000 at the Mahavir Cancer Sansthan through smart cards.

Inaugurating a new welfare scheme, minister for labour resources Janardan Singh Sigriwal on Tuesday reiterated the government's commitment to extend its welfare schemes to people from financially weaker sections, and said the suffering persons would not be required to pay money in cash.

The facility would be extended to select hospitals in the state. Executive director of the labour department Parmanand Jha said poor patients had to run from one office to another for getting financial support and gather various certificates to support their claims but now the smart card would rid them of such problems and make medical treatment available easily.

Chairman of Bihar state religious trust board Kishore Kunal said Mahavir temple also offered help of Rs. 10000 to poor patients for treatment. Dr Jitendra Kumar Singh, director of Mahavir Cancer Sansthan appreciated the government's scheme and said it would help several poor patients.
