Women force closure of NMCH counter

A large number of women under the banner of Mahila Brigade created unruly scenes at the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) and forcibly closed the registration counter on Tuesday to protest against misbehaviour with a woman at the registration counter a day earlier.

A source in NMCH said about 20 women entered the hospital premises with lathis and brooms and chased away the employees at the registration counter. Registration work remained suspended for about an hour.

“Protestors clamed that a hospital guard had misbehaved with a woman when she had come for treatment. The situation was brought under control only after the intervention of senior doctors and nurses of the hospital,” said a hospital employee.

Meanwhile, agitating employees, under the aegis of Chaturth Sangharshseel Karmchari Sangh of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), staged a demonstration in support of their demand for implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendations.

They also took out a procession from the hospital premises hat wended its way through localities in the state capital.
