Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill were finally able to brew a big partnership together, one worth 128 runs. This had always been GT's gameplan, and things looked back to normal as they found their range with Sudharsan dominating the strike – but Gill fell before he could really kick on. (PTI)

Sudharsan scored 100(58) with 11 fours and five sixes, a fine innings but not one of his most fluent. His wicket came at an inopportune time, just as GT needed him to kick on and get some bonus runs at the death, as he fell to Josh Hazlewood. (PTI)

In the chase, Virat Kohli was dropped off Mohammed Siraj's bowling in the very first over – an incident which would have an outsized impact on the result. Siraj did have some joy later in the powerplay, removing Jacob Bethell in the Englishman's first match of the season. (REUTERS)

Kohli was the more watchful of the pair starting off, but he slowly began to accelerate once he was set. His 44-ball innings included eight fours and four sixes, giving RCB total control and making it seem like it was going to be another heavy victory. (ANI Pic Service)
