Photos: India’s first 1600 HHP solar DEMU train launched

Indian Railways launched its first 1600 HHP solar DEMU train. It is one of the environmental friendly measures taken by the railways which will also have financial benefits. The train with a sitting capacity of 89 per people per coach will be operational from Saturday.

The train has a total of 16 solar panels of 300 watts in each coach. The energy generated by these panels will be stored in batteries and will be used during the night. (Arvind Yadav/HT PHOTO)
