In an interview with Zarafshan Shiraz, Dr Tilak Suvarna, Senior Interventional Cardiologist at Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute, revealed, “Research studies have shown a positive association between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease, with an estimated 3.5-fold increased risk of heart disease. The mechanism of this association is however not clear.
