Early greying of hair is caused by a lot of factors. From watching what we eat to things such as heredity, there are a lot of reasons at play that contribute in early graying of hair. Nutritionist Anjali Mukerjee addressed this issue and wrote, “Grey hair is usually associated with aging, but this is not always the case. The change in hair color is caused by a gradual decrease of pigmentation. This occurs when melanin production reduces in the hair root and new hairs grow in without pigment.” she also noted down five reasons which causes grey hair.(Unsplash)

Genes: Sometimes early graying of hair is inherited from our parents or ancestors.(Unsplash)

Protein: Hair requires a lot of nourishment, which comes from protein. In case we have a low protein diet, it can cause early graying of hair.(Unsplash)


Stress: Stress, worries and anxieties for a long period of time can cause grey hair as well.(Unsplash)

Coffee, fried foods: Excessive intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, refined flour and sugar, red meat, and fried, spicy, and acidic foods contribute in blocking the nutrients from reaching the hair follicles, which can be harmful for hair health.(Unsplash)
