Taking care of our skin can be an arduous task, especially with the number of products available in the market these days. All the products in the market claim to do wonders for our skin but whether we go to a salon for spas and facials or indulge at home with a set skincare regime of cleansing, toning and moisturizing, one fact that cannot be ignored is the presence of harmful chemicals present in these products which can be harmful to our skin in the long run. What many of us don’t realize is that we have nature’s blessing in abundance when it comes to skincare. The readymade products - creams, beauty soaps, scrubs, cleansers all claim to contain natural ingredients such as flowers, leaf extracts, fruits extracts, etc. but we can always just use the natural ingredients as they are without any chemicals and toxins. 1. Green Tea - Known for its antioxidant properties and refreshing flavour, green tea is great for the skin. Apart from drinking it, it can easily be used as a face cleanser along with your regular cleanser. Just add a couple of tablespoons of loose green tea to your regular cleanser, stir it up and apply. Post five minutes after the dead skin cells are softened, gently rub and rinse it off. (File Photo)

2. Mint Leaves - Mint is a great herb for skin care. It controls excess oil during summers owing to Vitamin A present in it and leaves the skin glowing. Also, applying crushed mint leaves on the forehead helps in getting rid of headaches. (ROMAN ODINTSOV)


3. Lime Juice and Honey - A super combination, lime juice and honey, makes for a great homemade natural skin care product very useful for acne. It can be used in facial cleansers even on sensitive or mixed skin types. Take half a teaspoon, warm between hands and spread on face gently, leave on for 10 minutes then rinse with warm water and pat dry. (Timur Weber)

4. Guava Leaves (Amrood ke Patte) - Easily available in the market, guava leaves have several medicinal properties along with being a health booster. It is amazing for skin, hair, weight management, and immune system. Guava leaves are considered a natural pain reliever due to the present antioxidants, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory agents, and beneficial tannins. Its consumption and application help in getting rid of the free radicals that damage your skin.
