Self-abandonment is when we try to suppress our own needs and priorities. "You might have a desire or need you want to meet, but you make the decision not to meet that need. We abandon ourselves when we don't value ourselves and when we don't act in our own best interest," wrote Therapist Allyson Kellum-Aguirre.
