FIR registered against fake profile of state cabinet minister Girish Bapat in Pune

A case was registered at Bund Garden police station in Pune, after a fake profile of the minister was used to share inappropriate pictures on a social networking website.

A 30-year-old man named Hrushikesh Nalawade was arrested by the cyber cell of Pune police on Thursday night.

Nalawade was arrested in a case against making fake profile of Maharashtra cabinet minister Girish Bapat, said senior police inspector Radhika Phadke of cyber crime cell.

Nalawade pursued education upto 12th standard and is a resident from Pune rural region, says Senior PI Pahdke.

A case was registered at Bund Garden police station in Pune, after a fake profile of the minister was used to share inappropriate pictures on a social networking website under his name and illicit pictures were allegedly uploaded. 

The case was filed by the media manager of the minister, Sunil Bhikaji Mane (43).

Mane says that he have received phone calls from people known to the minister after they saw objectionable pictures shared by a profile named Namdar Girish Bapat. 

“I handle his social media profiles. All his profiles are named only as Girish Bapat. When I came across this profile, I filed a police complaint,” he said.

According to the police, a case was registered under Indian Penal code (IPC) Section 500 and Information Technology Act Section 66(C).
