Pune division registered 15 cases involving copying in the higher secondary certificate (HSC) exams, and six copying cases in the state secondary school certificate (SSC) exams till Sunday, March 10, 2019.
While Marathwada’s Aurangabad and Latur divisions top the list of cases of copying this year.
Meanwhile, HSC and SSC exams will end on March 22.
“Our flying squads are keeping a close watch on all the examination centres across the state. As some of the difficult papers will start for SSC, these flying squad members will go individually for checking at the notorious exam centres,” said Ashok Bhosale, secretary of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.
“We will be increasing the number of sitting squads for next papers for both HSC and SSC exams. There will be a watch on mass copying and sensitive exam centres, especially in Latur, Aurangabad and other divisions,” said Bhosale.
“Once a student is caught copying by our squad his/her answer sheet is taken away, and new answer sheet is given to write the paper. Then according to the procedure, an enquiry is done and if he is found guilty then further action is taken,” added Bhosale.
Talking about the exam pressure and why students indulge in copying, Ramesh Patil, professor and counsellor, appointed by the state board, said, “It is the fear of failing in exams that make student indulge in cheating or copying during the exams.”

{{/usCountry}}“Many times students are well prepared for the exams, but stress and heavy expectations from parents leads to taking a wrong step while writing the paper. Once found guilty in copying, the entire year is gone and the students get depressed,” Patil added.
