Gold ornaments worth 3.84 lakh stolen

A thief, who posed as a hearing impaired salesman, decamped with gold ornaments estimated to be worth 3.84 lakh from a residence in Anant Vasahat on Saturday morning.

A first information report (FIR) has been lodged by Kalpana Krishna Srikhande (60), a resident of Vikhroli. Srikhande had come to Anant Vasahat to visit her mother. Srikhande had bought gold jewellery and kept in a bag in one of the two rooms in the house. At that time, an unidentified person entered the house with a pamphlet posing as a hearing impaired salesman. The suspect, then, distracted Srikhande’s husband by talking to him and later decamped with the booty, according to the complaint.

Srikhande suspects that the unidentified salesman allegedly robbed her when he had come to her residence. Srikhande filed an FIR at the Bibvewadi police station and an investigation has been launched to nab the culprit, police said.

A sniffer dog squad was pressed into action to assist the police during the investigation.
