The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) have claimed that they carried out an anti-encroachment drive on a land parcel measuring 2.10 acres, bearing government land record survey number 177, bungalow no. 7, Alexandria road. The land has been classified as a B-3 defence land (under the purview of the defence estates office), on old grant terms, situated in the civil area.
In compliance of notice issued under Sections 248 and 320 of the Cantonment Act, 2006, vide Cantonment Board resolution No. 26 dated August 20, 2018, the anti-encroachment drive was carried out by the team of Pune Cantonment Board on May 10.
The land is now vacant and is being used by children for sports and recreational activities. The cost of the land is Rs 50 crore.
The Pune Cantonment Board in its statement said that the land belongs to the central government and now has been cleared of the encroachment.
The Pune Cantonment Board, without revealing the name of the holder of the occupancy rights of the property, said that the land holder carried out unauthorised constructions and constructed an illegal fencing around the land. He was trying to take the vacant defence land under his possession by adopting unlawful measures and tactics, the officials said.
