Pune’ final year COEP student found hanging in toilet

Thakare, a native of Mumbai, did not leave a suicide note, according to police sub inspector Shivaji Bhosale of Khadki police station who is investigating the case.

A final year student of College of Engineering, Pune, was found hanging in the college toilet in the late hours of Saturday. The student was identified as Nehal Thakare, 21. He was found hanging in the toilet inside the main building of the college, said Dr Bharatkumar Bhagatraj Ahuja, director of CoEP.

“Yes, the college building is accessible at all hours. He was out with his friends. We do not know the exact time this happened,” said Dr Ahuja. “He had two papers to give. I am not sure if he had appeared for them,” he added. “He was a cheerful boy. We are in a shock. He was also fond of literature,” said Dr Ahuja.

Thakare, a native of Mumbai, did not leave a suicide note, according to police sub inspector Shivaji Bhosale of Khadki police station who is investigating the case. Assistant police inspector Santish Shinde visited the spot on Saturday night.

The final year civil engineering student’s death was recorded as an accidental death report at Khadki police station. His body was sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post mortem. According to the police, he did not leave a suicide note.
